Terms & Conditions

Legal Requirements

In order to carry out any training you must hold a valid full UK driving licence or provisional licence and be able to show this along with your national insurance number which will be checked before any training is carried out. Original licences are the only form acceptable, no copies or old style paper licences will be allowed. Your licence must be in date on the day of any and all training.

Cancellations

CBT cancellation

If you wish to cancel your CBT course you must provide Black Top with a minimum of 48 hours notice before the start of your training. If you cancel within the 48 hour time period or do not attend on the day this will result in the loss of your deposit and no refund will be possible.

Full licence Cancellation

If you wish to cancel your course you must provide Black Top with a minimum of 5 days notice before the start of your training. Failure to provide enough notice will result in the loss of any payments made. If cancellation is made more than 5 days in advance a full refund will be given within 10 working days.

Attendance

It is solely your responsibility to attend all scheduled days training in full and on time. All training for CBT and full licences are regulated and monitored by the DVSA and have set elements which cannot be postponed or skipped for any individual regardless of experience. Courses start at 08:30am therefore if you arrive more than 5 minutes late this will result in the loss of any payments made with no refunds given and funds must be re-paid in order to complete the training on a different day. If you attend late for full licence tests Black Top will not be responsible for loss of test fees or repayment of further cost needed to re-book.

Clothing

Essential protective equipment such as helmets gloves and jackets will be provided but it will be each students responsibility to have the correct footwear and suitable clothing on the day of training and/or tests. If your attire is not deemed suitable this may result in your course being cancelled and a loss of any and all payments made.

Behaviour

If at any point during your training you show an unacceptable attitude or unsuitable risk taking which has the potential to put yourself, the instructor or any other road users at risk your training will be immediately terminated and will result in loss of all payments with no refund possible. It will then be at the discretion of the instructor whether additional training can be booked and carried out with Black Top. Any abuse towards your instructor or any other student will not be tolerated.

Personal Vehicles

If you choose to complete a training course on your own motorcycle/scooter then this will not be covered by Black Tops insurance and it will be your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct insurance in place. Your vehicle must be in a roadworthy condition and meet the legal requirements for riding on a public highway, this means that your must display L plates on the front and rear of your motorcycle/scooter, you must have an in date MOT certificate and be properly taxed. You must be able to provide the vehicle log book. The instructor will check this to ensure that it is safe to ride on the road and will also check all relevant paperwork.

Health

It is solely your responsibility to inform your instructor of any medical conditions you may have and/or any medication that you are taking which could have an impact on your ability to safely ride a motorcycle or scooter. Motorcycling is inherently dangerous therefore you undertake at your own risk.
